Service on City Boards and Commissions
The City of Elmira seeks qualified citizens to serve their community by acting as representatives on the City's various boards and commissions. To be considered for appointment to a board or commission, complete the application below and return it to the Office of the Mayor and City Manager in City Hall. Applicants will be considered when a vacancy occurs on an active board or commission.

City Planning Commission
The City Planning Commission reviews requests for site plans and other business as appointed by the City Council.

Historical Preservation Commission
The Historic Preservation Commission reviews requests by property owners for external renovations in a historic district or on a historical property.

Public Art Commission
The Commission makes decisions concerning the selection, acquisition and display of public art/activity (permanent and impermanent) by reviewing all proposals for the exhibition/presence of public art in the city's public spaces, buildings, facilities and infrastructure (interior/exterior).

Traffic Coordinating Board
The Traffic Coordinating Board deals with concerns and requests related to parking, the flow of traffic, street closings, and other traffic concerns.
