Subject: Assault on a Police Officer
On February 18th 2025 around 12:58 AM, Elmira Police Officers were dispatched to the area Lincoln St to investigate a Larceny complaint. During the investigation, information was obtained that a suspect was at a location on W 3rd St. When Officers arrived, they encountered the suspect who was not compliant and a physical altercation occurred injuring one Elmira Police Officer. The suspect was eventually taken into custody.
On February 18th 2025 around 4:00 AM, an Elmira Police Officer was conducting routine business checks and observed a subject sleeping inside of the Strathmont Plaza lobby. When the Officer encountered the suspect, he was not compliant and a physical altercation occurred injuring one Elmira Police Officer. The suspect was eventually taken into custody.
Both Officers were treated for non-life-threatening injuries at Arnot Hospital and released.
As a result of these investigations, Eric Knox, a 61-year-old male from Elmira was charged with 1 count of Assault in the 2nd Degree, a Class D Felony and Michael Walker, a 57-year-old male from Elmira was charged with 1 count of Assault in the 2nd Degree, a Class D Felony.
