Subject: Weapons Arrest
On Monday April 7th, 2025 the Elmira Police Department Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) along with the New York State Police Violent Gangs and Narcotics Enforcement Team (VGNET) and the Elmira SWAT Team executed a Search Warrant at a residence on the west side of the City of Elmira. The Search Warrant was obtained following a lengthy investigation by the DEU/VGNET Unit involving the sale of illegal narcotics from the suspect SEAN M. WHITTY (DOB 01/09/1982) of Elmira, NY.
The Search of Sean Whitty’s residence yielded large amounts of Cocaine, Methamphetamine, Fentanyl and Psilocybin Mushrooms. Along with the illegal drugs, (2) pill presses, a Kilo press, digital scale, three loaded semi-automatic pistols (.22 cal, 9mm, .45 cal), additional ammunition for all three pistols and a quantity of US Currency.
At this time Sean Whitty has been charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree. Additional criminal charges are pending.
