Subject: 400 Block of W Gray St Incident
On May 13th, 2025 at approximately 3:42pm the Elmira Police Department was dispatched to the 400 Block of W Gray St for the call of an assist agency to the United States Probation and Pretrial Services. Upon arrival Elmira Police were advised that U.S. Probation Officers were there conducting a home visit for a female who was currently under their supervision. While inside the residence one of the U.S. Probation Officers had been bit by one dog and attacked by another dog. The U.S. Probation Officer suffered multiple puncture wounds to the leg and was transported to a local hospital and is in stable condition. Subsequently the other U.S. Probation Officer on scene discharged their duty issued handgun striking both animals to stop the attack. Both animals did not survive.
The Elmira Police Department was assisted by the City of Elmira Animal Control.
