Community Response Team (CRT)

The Elmira Police Department Community Response Team (CRT) is comprised of 10 members of the Elmira Police Department. These members are of various ranks within the department and are overseen by a designated Officer in Charge (OIC).

Members of the CRT are generally tasked with extra patrols to combat ongoing quality-of-life issues, weapons-related incidents, and assist the Drug Enforcement Unit with street-level narcotics investigations. CRT utilizes different tactics such as Bicycle Patrol and Foot Patrol and often deploys to high crime areas when there are upticks in violence in a given neighborhood.
